Welcome to the first of many selfceare Sundays! I get a lot of questions about skincare, what do I do to stay active, keep sane and well, I thought it would be a great time to start a conversation with you and share my tips for doing all of the above and more!

If you caught my Instastories (or are watching it now, heyyyy!), you’ll know that this first one was focused on skincare. Many of you may or may not know this, but I wrote a skincare book called Skin on Fleek: Five Minutes to Flawless Skin (available on the blog or through Amazon!). It took me so long to get my skincare routine just right so I’ve created an easy step-by-step guide to an easy skincare routine for any age or skin type. So it felt right to kick off this first #selfcaresunday talking about skincare!

I have been a big fan of Lanćome for many years. It’s one of the brands that has been in steady rotation in my skincare and makeup routine forever. About a month ago they sent me a box of products to try which I unboxed on Instastories. The box contained a little bit of everything, some products I’ve used before, and a couple of products that were new to me, including one of their latest skincare lines, Énergie de Vie! This product line contains four key ingredients:

  • Lemon Balm – known for soothing, calming, and anti-inflammatory benefits
  • Goji Berry – known to strengthen skin defenses via its antioxidant action
  • Gentian – contains specific sugars shown to help energize skin
  • Vitamin E- known for its antioxidant activity

Talk about a burst of energy! I was pretty excited to give this a go. As a general rule, I like to use a product for a month before I decide it’s for me; I like to give a product some time before I can say with certainty I see some benefits. So I incorporated this into my a.m. routine right before my moisture. Take note: this product is in fact listed as a moisturizer. However I use it as a serum and here’s why: A, there’s no SPF. If you’re using this product at night then it’s perfectly fine as your last step, but if not you would have to add another layer and I would rather use a moisturizer with SPF than to add SPF afterward. B, the antioxidant properties make for an ideal serum.

Serums are made up of smaller molecules to better target a high concentration of ingredients to your skin. This has the consistency of a serum and the above ingredients make for a good infusion of what my skin needs. And it works great as a middle step! It’s very light and absorbs quickly, you don’t need much, I do two pumps and that covers my entire face.

The verdict: I’m a fan! It’s up to you whether you decide to use it as a serum or moisturizer, but this product is good for most skin types 30+. If you have dry skin I def recommend a moisturizer on top of this (Lanćome has some great ones) and if your skin is on the oily side (yes, you still need a moisturizer) you should be good with a couple of pumps but test it first.

I’m also excited to give you guys an exclusive promo: Save 15% on your order at Lanćome on this or any product when you use ‘PRETTY15‘ at check out! I can’t wait to hear what you thought of the first edition of #selfcaresundays, and if you try this product (you really should) let me know!
